This section raised several questions that I think would serve as great points of discussion. After reading about the mental strain being alone puts on them, how many of you have been put in a situation where you felt completely isolated and how did it affect you? The feeling of isolation, as we have read in the book, can drive people insane and cause them to lash out as a result. I also have come to realize how grateful I am in being able to control things like when and what I eat and all the other freedoms I have that are not optional to Newton and other prisoners in the system. We don’t think about the little things we get to choose every day like what to wear, sit, and other things that seem so miniscule to us, we often carry them out with little to no thought. So my final question would be, do you believe people take for granted the freedoms and choices they have in day to day life?
