Reflecting on the book and thinking about the many themes we have written about this semester, which theme you did enjoy thinking and writing about the most and why, or which theme intrigued you the most and why. Did this book spark a curiosity in you that encouraged you to read other texts on the same subject? Di you enjoy the book? Why or Why not?

My favorite theme to write about from this book was love. Will showed his constant love for his mom constantly and showed the perfect bond that a mother and child will always have. If he did not love her he would not have written about their journey that they had had together during the entire time of her illness. I enjoyed reading the book and it does make me want to read other books that follow along the same path because it shows unconditional love that someone may have for another person.

My favorite theme was when we wrote about Mary Anne’s achievements in life. I believe it was last week's discussion. I liked writing about this topic, because I was able to reflect back on her journey with Will. Mary Anne made me realize how someone can take a devastating news, and turn it into something positive. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I’m glad that I chose to read this at the beginning of the semester. There was this feeling I got, and it made me realize how much I want someone like Will to be by my side when going through something serious.

What I enjoyed about this book is that you can feel the bound and love between Will and Mary Ann, as well as the respect that a son had for a mother. Throughout the book, Will makes sure to describe all of his mother's amazing traits and achievements. The way he talks about his mother fight against cancer and comparing them to the books they read together. I am really glad I had the opportunity to have read this book!

Overall, this book was truly an incredible read. The theme I enjoyed the most was the importance of family. Will was not a selfish individual before his mother’s diagnosis or anything but I found it incredible the way he wanted to drop everything and care for his mother. She despised the idea of them putting their own lives on hold because of her. Even though she was sick, she still wanted them to continue their lives and move forward. But I found it so incredible that if she merely called, they were always eager to help. The idea of putting someone else’s needs above our own is something I hope we all take into our hearts and never let go. Often times we take people for granted and forget to acknowledge those who mean the most to us. This can be fixed with a simple “I love you” or “Thank you”. The most important thing I learned from this book was that family will always be there despite any scary obstacles you have to overcome; family is forever.

This book had several great themes that I really enjoyed reading the most important to me being the power of family. Today we all live our lives in such a fast pace that we often forget about ourselves and loved ones. A family bond is extremely powerful. Whether we realize it or not, we often times take several moments for granted. It is important to keep in mind that tomorrow is never promised. We should always show and tell our emotions to our family members. A life can be taken in the blink of an eye and you never know when your life or their life may be taken away. Don’t take moments for granted, truly treasure every moment you spend with your family because you don’t want to regret not doing so later on. I really enjoyed the bond that Mary Anne and her family had. Besides her illness, they all managed to stay strong, and that brought them even closer together. Mary Anne’s family truly did everything to cherish every moment they spent with her. Overall, this was a great book that had several great themes that helped me open my eyes up to the world.
